The two survivors, not knowing what else to do, agree that they had no other recourse but to pray to God. However, to find out whose prayer was more powerful, they agreed to divide the territory between them and stay on opposite sides of the island.

The first thing they prayed for was food. The next morning, the first man saw a fruit-bearing tree on his side of the land, and! he was able to eat its fruit. The other man's parcel of land remained barren.

After a week, the first man was lonely and he decided to pray for a wife. The next day, there was a woman who swam to his side of the land.
On the other side of the island, there was nothing.

Soon the first man prayed for a house, clothes, more food. The next day, like magic, all of these were given to him.
However, the second man still had nothing.

Finally, the first man prayed for a ship, so that he and his wife could leave the island. In the morning, he found a ship docked at his side of the island. The first man boarded the ship with his wife and decided to leave the second man on the island. He considered the other man unworthy to receive God's blessings, since none of his prayers had been answered.

As the ship was about to leave, the first man heard a voice from heaven booming, "Why are you leaving your companion on the island?"
"My blessings are mine alone, since I was the one who prayed for them," the first man answered. "His prayers were all unanswered and so he does not deserve anything."

"You are mistaken!" the voice rebuked him. "He had only one prayer, which I answered. If not for that, you would not have received any of my blessings."

"Tell me," the first man asked the voice, "what did he pray for that I should owe him anything?"

"He prayed that all your prayers be answered."SUBHANALLAH...

For all we know, our blessings are not the fruits of our prayers alone, but those of another praying for us.

This is too good not to share...

My prayer for you today is that all your prayers are answered. Be blessed.

"What you do for others is more important than what you do for yourself"

Do You Know Your Value

A well-known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a Rupee 500 note.

In the room of 200, he asked, "Who would like this Rupee 500 note?"

Hands started going up. He said, "I am going to give this note to one of you but first let me do this." He proceeded to crumple the note up. He then asked,
"Who still wants it?"Still the hands were up in the air.

"Well," he replied, "What if I do this?" And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now all
crumpled and dirty. "Now who still wants it?"

Still the hands went into the air.

"My friends, you have all learned a very valuable lesson.
No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth Rupee 500/-. Many times in our lives, we are
dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances
that come our way. We feel as though we are worthless.
But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value.
You are special. Don't ever forget it! Never let yesterday's disappointments overshadow tomorrow's dreams.

"VALUE HAS A VALUE ONLY IF ITS VALUE IS VALUED"

""Never Believe what the lines of ur hand predict abt ur future, coz people who dont have hands...also hav a future... He was devastated to discover it was a mousetrap.
Retreating to the farmyard, the mouse proclaimed the warning: “There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!”

The chicken clucked and scratched, raised her head and said “Mr. Mouse, I can tell this is a grave concern to you, but it is of no consequence to me. I cannot be bothered by it.”

The mouse turned to the goat and told him “There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!” The goat sympathized, but said “I am so very sorry, Mr. Mouse, but there is nothing I can do about it but pray. Be assured you are in my prayers.”

The mouse turned to the cow and said “There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!” The cow said “Wow, Mr. Mouse. I’m sorry for you, but it’s no skin off my nose.”

So, the mouse returned to the house, head down and dejected, to face the farmer’s mousetrap alone.

That very night a sound was heard throughout the house – like the sound of a mousetrap catching its prey. The farmer’s wife rushed to see what was caught. In the darkness, she did not see it was a venomous snake whose tail the trap had caught. The snake bit the farmer’s wife. The farmer rushed her to the hospital and she returned home with a fever.

Everyone knows you treat a fever with fresh chicken soup, so the farmer took his hatchet to the farmyard for the soup’s main ingredient. But his wife’s sickness continued, so friends and neighbors came to sit with her around the clock. To feed them, the farmer butchered the goat. The farmer’s wife did not get well; she died. So many! people came for her funeral, the farmer had the cow slaughtered to provide enough meat for all of them.

The mouse looked upon it all from his crack in the wall with great sadness. So, the next time you hear someone is facing a problem and think it doesn’t concern you, remember: when one of us is threatened, we are all at risk. We are all involved in this journey called life. We must keep an eye out for one another and make an extra effort to encourage one another. Each of us is a vital thread in another person’s tapestry.

Charles Schultz Philosophy

The following is the philosophy of Charles Schultz, the creator of the "Peanuts" comic strip. You don't have to actually answer the questions. Just read the e-mail straight through and you'll get the point.

1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.
2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.
3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America.
4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.
5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winner for best actor and actress.
6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners.

How did you do?

The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are no second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.

Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:

1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.
2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.
3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.
4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.
5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.

 Easier?

The lesson: The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones that care.

"Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia." (Charles Schultz)

Weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character - Albert Einstein

The Japanese have always loved fresh fish. But the water close to Japan has not held many fish for decades. So to feed the Japanese population, fishing boats got bigger and went further than ever.

The further the fishermen went, the longer it took to bring the fish. If the return trip took more time, the fish were not fresh. To solve this problem, fish companies installed freezers on their boats.

They would catch the fish and freeze them at sea. Freezers allowed the boats to go further and stay longer. However, the Japanese could taste the difference between fresh and frozen fish.

And they did not like the taste of frozen fish. The frozen fish brought a lower price. So, fishing companies installed fish tanks. They would catch the fish and stuff them in the tanks, fin to fin.

After a little thrashing around, they were tired, dull, and lost their fresh-fish taste. The fishing industry faced an impending crisis! But today, they get fresh-tasting fish to Japan.

How did they manage? To keep the fish tasting fresh, the Japanese fishing companies still put the fish in the tanks but with a small shark. The fish are challenged and hence are constantly on the move.

The challenge they face keeps them alive and fresh!

Have you realized that some of us are also living in a pond but most of the time tired and dull ? Basically in our lives, sharks are new challenges to keep us active. If you are steadily conquering challenges, you are happy. Your challenges keep you energized. Self-confident people trust their own abilities, have a general sense of control in their lives, and believe that, within reason, they will be able to do what they wish, plan, and expect.

Having self-confidence does not mean that individuals will be able to do everything.

Self-confident people have expectations that are realistic. Even when some of their expectations are not met, they continue to be positive and to accept themselves.
People who are not self-confident depend excessively on the approval of others in order to feel good about themselves. They tend to avoid taking risks because they fear failure. They generally do not expect to be successful.
They often put themselves down and tend to discount or ignore compliments paid to them.

By contrast, self- confident people are willing to risk the disapproval of others because they generally trust their own abilities. They tend to accept themselves; they don't feel they have to conform in order to be accepted.

Self-confidence is not necessarily a general characteristic which pervades all aspects of a person's life. Typically, individuals will have some areas of their lives where they feel quite confident, e.g., academics, athletics, while at
the same time they do not feel at all confident in other areas, e.g., personal appearance, social relationships.

How is Self-Confidence Initially Developed?
Many factors affect the development of self-confidence. Parents' attitudes are crucial to children's feelings about themselves, particularly in children's earlyyears. When parents provide acceptance, children receive a solid foundation for good feelings about themselves. If one or both parents are excessively critical or demanding, or if they are overprotective and discourage moves toward independence, children may come to believe they are incapable, inadequate, or inferior.

However, if parents encourage children's moves toward self-reliance and accept and love their children when they make mistakes, children will learn to accept themselves and will be on their way to developing self-confidence.
Surprisingly, lack of self-confidence is not necessarily related to lack of ability. Instead it is often the result of focusing too much on the unrealistic expectations or standards of others, especially parents and society. Friends' influences can be as powerful or more powerful than those of parents and society in shaping feelings about one's self. Students in their college years re-examine values and develop their own identities and thus are particularly vulnerable to the influence of friends.

Assumptions that Continue to Influence Self-Confidence

In response to external influences, people develop assumptions; some of these are constructive and some are harmful. Several assumptions that can interfere with self-confidence and alternative ways of thinking are:

ASSUMPTION:

"I must always have love or approval from every significant person in my
life."

ALTERNATIVE:

This is a perfectionistic, unattainable goal. It is more realistic and desirable to develop personal standards and values that are not completely dependent on the approval of others.

ASSUMPTION:

"I must be thoroughly competent, adequate, and achieving in all important areas of my life."

ALTERNATIVE:

This again is a perfectionistic, unattainable goal and suggests that personal worth is determined by achievement. Achievement can be satisfying but does not make you more worthy. Instead, worth is an inherent quality and all people possess it.

ASSUMPTION:
"My past remains all important and control my feelings and behaviors in the present."

ALTERNATIVE:

While it is true that your confidence was especially vulnerable to external influences during your childhood, as you grow older you can gain awareness and perspective on what those influences have been. In doing so, you can choose which influences you will continue to allow to have an effect on your life. You don't have to be helpless in the face of past events.

Self-Defeating Thought Patterns
Subscribing to these harmful assumptions leaves you vulnerable to the following self-defeating thought patterns:

All Or Nothing Thinking.

"I am a total failure when my performance is not perfect."
Seeing Only Dark Clouds. Disaster lurks around every corner and comes to be expected. For example, a single negative detail, piece of criticism, or passing comment darkens all reality. "I got a C on one chem test, now I'll never get into medical school."

Magnification Of Negative/Minimization Of Positive.

Good things don't count nearly as much as bad ones. "I know I won five chess games in a row, but losing this one makes me feel terrible about myself."

Uncritical Acceptance Of Emotions As Truth.

"I feel ugly so it must be true."

Overemphasis On "Should" Statements.

"Should" statements are often perfectionistic and reflective of others' expectations rather than expressive of your own wants and desires. "Everyone should have a career plan when they come to college. I don't so there must be something wrong with me."

Labeling.

Labeling is a simplistic process and often conveys a sense of blame. "I am a loser and it's my fault."

Difficulty Accepting Compliments.

"You like this outfit? I think it makes me look fat."
The following strategies may help overcome such self-defeating thought patterns.
Strategies for Developing Confidence

Emphasize Strengths.

Give yourself credit for everything you try. By focusing on what you can do, you applaud yourself for efforts rather than emphasizing end products. Starting from a base of what you should do helps you live within the bounds of your inevitable limitations.

Take Risks.

Approach new experiences as
opportunities to learn rather than occasions to win or lose. Doing so opens you up to new possibilities and can increase your sense of self-acceptance. Not doing so turns every possibility into an opportunity for failure, and inhibits personal growth.

Use Self-Talk.

Use self-talk as an opportunity to counter harmful assumptions. Then, tell yourself to "stop" and substitute more reasonable assumptions. For example, when you catch
yourself expecting perfection, remind yourself that you can't do everything perfectly, that it's only possible to try to do things and to try to do them well. This allows you to accept yourself while still striving to improve.
Self-Evaluate.

Learn to evaluate yourself independently. Doing so allows you to avoid the constant sense of turmoil that comes from relying exclusively on the opinions of others.

Focusing internally on how you feel about your own behavior, work, etc. will give you a stronger sense of self and will prevent you from giving your personal power away to others.

Why is Change Needed?

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; If you find yourself out of coverage area of your mobile network and there is an emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly... this number 112 can be dialed even while the keypad is locked. Try it out.

2) Locked the keys in the car? Your car has remote keys?

This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone also. If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone on your cell phone. Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the other person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the phone on their end. Your car will unlock. That saves someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other "remote" for your car, you can unlock
the doors (or the trunk).

Editor's Note: *It works fine! We tried it out and it unlocked our car over
a cell phone!

3) Hidden Battery power

Imagine your cell battery is very low, u r expecting an important call and u don't have a charger. Nokia instrument comes with a reserve battery. To activate, press the keys *3370#. Your cell will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when u charge your cell next time.

What To Do When You Are Trapped in a Lift ?

We never know when and where accidents will happen to us OR people around us.

Read on and hope this piece of information may help any of us when things do happen to ourselves, our friends and our loved ones.

When you are facing life and death situations, whatever decisions or actions you make decides your survival.

If you are caught in a lift breakdown, first thought in mind may be 'waiting to die'...

But after reading below, things will definitely be different the next time you are caught in a lift.

First

Quickly press all the different levels of buttons in the lift. The HR manager interviewed him then watched him cleaning the floor as a test.

'You are employed' he said. Give me your e-mail address and I'll send you the application to fill in, as well as date when you may start.

The man replied 'But I don't have a computer, neither an email'.

'I'm sorry', said the HR manager. If you don't have an email, that means you do not exist. And who doesn't exist, cannot have the job.'

The man left with no hope at all. He didn't know what to do, with only $10 in his pocket. He then decided to go to the supermarket and buy a 10Kg tomato crate.
He then sold the tomatoes in a door to door round. In less than two hours,
he succeeded to double his capital. He repeated the operation three times,
and returned home with $60.

The man realized that he can survive by this way, and started to go everyday earlier, and return late. Thus, his money doubled or tripled everyday.

Shortly, he bought a cart, then a truck, and then he had his own fleet of delivery vehicles.

5 years later, the man is one of the biggest food retailers in the US ...
He started to plan his family's future, and decided to have a life insurance.

He called an insurance broker, and chose a protection plan.
When the conversation was concluded the broker asked him his email.
The man replied,'I don't have an email.'
The broker answered curiously, 'You don't have an email, and yet have succeeded to build an empire. Can you imagine what you could have been if you had an e mail?!!' The man thought for a while and replied, 'Yes, I'd be an office boy at Microsoft!'

Moral of the story

Moral 1
Internet is not the solution to your life.

Moral 2
If you don't have Internet, and work hard, you can be a millionaire.

Moral 3
If you received this message by email,
you are closer to being a office boy/girl,than a millionaire..........

What Does Courage, Confidence & Trust means to you?????

Have you ever seen a true example of Courage, Trust and Confidence

This is what Courage, Confidence & Trust means!

EIGHT LIES OF A MOTHER

This story begins when I was a child: I was born poor. Often we hadn't
enough to eat. Whenever we had some food, Mother often gave me her
portion of rice. While she was transferring her rice into my bowl, she
would say 'Eat this rice, son! I'm not hungry.'

This was Mother's First Lie.

As I grew, Mother gave up her spare time to fish in a river near our
house; she hoped that from the fish she caught, she could give me a
little bit more nutritious food for my growth. Once she had caught
just two fish, she would make fish soup. While I was eating the soup,
mother would sit beside me and eat what was still left on the bone of
the fish I had eaten; My heart was touched when I saw it. Once I gave
the other fish to her on my chopstick but she immediately refused it
and said, 'Eat this fish, son! I don't really like fish.'

This was Mother's Second Lie.

Then, in order to fund my education, Mother went to a Match Factory to
bring home some used matchboxes which she filled with fresh
matchsticks. This helped her get some money to cover our needs. One
wintry night I awoke to find Mother filling the matchboxes by
candlelight. So I said, 'Mother, go to sleep; it's late: you can
continue working tomorrow morning.' Mother smiled and said 'Go to
sleep, son! I'm not tired.'

This was Mother's Third Lie

When I had to sit my Final Examination, Mother accompanied me. After
dawn, Mother waited for me for hours in the heat of the sun. When the
bell rang, I ran to meet her. Mother embraced me and poured me a glass
of tea that she had prepared in a thermos. The tea was not as strong
as my Mother's love, Seeing Mother covered with perspiration; I at
once gave her my glass and asked her to drink too. Mother said 'Drink,
son! I'm not thirsty!

This was Mother's Fourth Lie.

After Father's death, Mother had to play the role of a single parent.
She held on to her former job; she had to fund our needs alone. Our
family's life was more complicated. We suffered from starvation.
Seeing our family's condition worsening, my kind Uncle who lived near
my house came to help us solve our problems big and small. Our other
neighbors saw that we were poverty stricken so they often advised my
mother to marry again. But Mother refused to remarry saying 'I don't
need love.'

This was Mother's Fifth Lie.

After I had finished my studies and gotten a job, it was time for my
old Mother to retire but she carried on going to the market every
morning just to sell a few vegetables. I kept sending her money but
she was steadfast and even sent the money back to me. She said, 'I
have enough money.'

That was Mother's Sixth Lie.

I continued my part-time studies for my Master's Degree. Funded by the
American Corporation for which I worked, I succeeded in my studies.
With a big jump in my salary, I decided to bring Mother to enjoy life
in America but Mother didn't want to bother her son; she said to me
'I'm not used to high living.'

That was Mother's Seventh Lie

In her dotage, Mother was attacked by cancer and had to be
hospitalized. Now living far across the ocean, I went home to visit
Mother who was bedridden after an operation. Mother tried to smile but
I was heartbroken because she was so thin and feeble but Mother said,
'Don't cry, son! I'm not in pain.'

That was Mother's Eighth Lie.

Telling me this, her eighth lie, she died.

YES, MOTHER WAS AN ANGEL!

M - O - T - H - E - R

'M' is for the Million things she gave me,

'O' means Only that she's growing old,

'T' is for the Tears she shed to save me,

'H' is for her Heart of gold,

'E' is for her Eyes with love-light shining in them,

'R' means Right, and right she'll always be,

Put them all together, they spell 'MOTHER' a word that means the world to me.

For those of you who are lucky to be still blessed with your Mom's
presence on Earth, this story is beautiful. For those who aren't so
blessed, this is even more beautiful.

Three Envelopes

A fellow had just been hired as the new CEO of a large high tech corporation. The CEO who was stepping down met with him privately and presented him with three numbered envelopes. "Open these if you run up against a problem you don't think you can solve," he said.

Well, things went along pretty smoothly, but six months later, sales took a downturn and he was really catching a lot of heat. About at his wits's end, he remembered the envelopes. He went to his drawer and took out the first envelope. The message read, "Blame your predecessor." The new CEO called a press conference and tactfully laid the blame at the feet of the previous CEO. Satisfied with his comments, the press -- and Wall Street -- responded positively, sales began to pick up and the problem was soon behind him.

About a year later, the company was again experiencing a slight dip in sales, combined with serious product problems. Having learned from his previous experience, the CEO quickly opened the second envelope. The message read, "Reorganize." This he did, and the company quickly rebounded.

After several consecutive profitable quarters, the company once again fell on difficult times. The CEO went to his office, closed the door and opened the third envelope. The message said, "Prepare three envelopes"…
THE TRICK IS TO FIND THE MAN IN THE COFFEE BEANS

This is bizarre - after you find the guy - it's so obvious.

Once you find him - you think, why didn't I see him immediately?

Doctors have concluded:

If you find the man in the coffee beans in 3 seconds, the right half of

your brain is better developed than most people.

If you find the man between 3 seconds and 1 minute, the right half of

the brain is developed normally.

If you find the man between 1 minute and 3 minutes, then the right half

of your brain is functioning slowly and you need to eat more protein.

If you have not found the man after 3 minutes, the advice is to look for

more of this type of exercise to Sharpen your mind.

Make that part of the brain The secretary could tell in a moment that such

backwoods, country hicks had no business at Harvard and probably didn't even

deserve to be in Harvard.

"We want to see the President "the ma n said softly.

"He'll be busy all day "the secretary snapped.

"We'll wait" the lady replied.

For hours the secretary ignored them, hoping that the couple would finally

become discouraged and go away. He loved

Harvard. He was happy here. But about a year ago, he was accidentally

killed. My husband and I would like to erect a memorial to him, somewhere on

campus."

The president wasn't touched....He was shocked. "Madam "he said, gruffly, "

we can't put up a statue for every person who attended Harvard and died. If

we did, this place would look like a cemetery."

"Oh, no," the lady explained quickly" We don't want to erect a statue. We

thought we would like to give a building to Harvard."

The president rolled his eyes. He glanced at the gingham dress and homespun

suit, and then exclaimed, "A building! Do you have any earthly idea how much

a building costs? We have over seven and a half million dollars in the

physical buildings here at Harvard."

For a moment the lady was silent. The president was pleased. Maybe he could

get rid of them now. The lady turned to her husband and said quietly, "Is

that all it costs to start a university ? Why don't we just start our own?"

Her husband nodded. The president's face wilted in confusion and

bewilderment. Mr. and Mrs. Leland Stanford got up and walked away, traveling

to Palo Alto, California where they established the University that bears

their name: -StanfordUniversity, a memorial to a son that Harvard no longer

cared about.

Most of the time we judge people by their outer appearance, which can be

misleading. And in this impression, we tend to treat people badly by

thinking they can do nothing for us. Thus we tend to lose our potential good

friends, employees or customers.

Remember

In our Life, we seldom get people with whom we want to share & grow our

thought process. But because of our inner EGO we miss them forever.

It is you who have to decide with whom you are getting associated in day to

day life.

Small people talk about others,

Average people talk If it is cold then wear more clothes rather than turn up the heating.

4. Don’t leave appliances on standby – switch them off!

5. Turn off mobile phones overnight, if you are not setting an alarm or using it throughout the night – the battery will last longer and you will spend less charging it up

6. Cover pots and pans when cooking – they will boil a lot quicker

7. Trees are attractive and improve the look of an area

SAVING WATER

1. Never put water down the drain when there may be another use for it such as watering a plant or garden, or cleaning.

2. Don’t flush the toilet unless you have to. Don’t throw rubbish into toilet to flush. Flushing uses a lot of water.

3. Don't leave tap on as you brush teeth or wash your face. Close the tap to save water.

4. Store drinking water in the refrigerator rather than letting the tap run every time you want a cool glass of water.

5. If you pour yourself a glass of water and don’t finish it, instead of pouring it down the drain, find another use for it such as watering a plant.

6. Turn taps tightly so does not leak.

7. Don't over water your lawn. Lawns need to be watered 5-7 days in summer and 10-14 in winter. Don’t water if it has rained.

8. Water lawns during the early morning hours when temperatures and wind speed are the lowest. This reduces losses from evaporation.

9. Use a brush to clean your path and driveway and not water.

10. Use a bucket when washing the car rather than a hose.

11. Here are some very interesting aspects of his life:

1. He bought his first share at age 11 and he now regrets that he started too late!
2. He bought a small farm at age 14 with savings from delivering newspapers.
3. He still lives in the same small 3-bedroom house in mid-town Omaha , that he bought after he got married 50 years ago. He says that he has everything he needs in that house. His house does not have a wall or a fence.
4. He drives his own car everywhere and does not have a driver or security people around him.
5. He never travels by private jet, although he owns the world's largest private jet company.
6. His company, Berkshire Hathaway, owns 63 companies. He writes only one letter each year to the CEOs of these companies, giving them goals for the year. He never holds meetings or calls them on a regular basis. He has given his CEO's only two rules. Rule number 1: do not lose any of your share holder's money. Rule number 2: Do not forget rule number 1.
7. He does not socialize with the high society crowd. His past time after he gets home is to make himself some pop corn and watch Television.
8. Bill Gates, the world's richest man met him for the first time only 5 years ago. Bill Gates did not think he had anything in common with Warren Buffet. So he had scheduled his meeting only for half hour. But when Gates met him, the meeting lasted for ten hours and Bill Gates became a devotee of Warren Buffet.
9. Warren Buffet does not carry a cell phone, nor has a computer on his desk.

His advice to young people: "Stay away from credit cards and invest in yourself and Remember:

A. I was a onscientious student and had breezed through the questions, until I read the last one: "What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?"

Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several times. She was tall, dark-haired and in her 50s, but how would I know her name? I handed in my paper, leaving the last question blank.

Just before class ended, one student asked if the last question would count toward our quiz grade. "Absolutely," said the professor. "In your careers, you will meet many people. All are significant. They deserve your attention and care, even if all you do is smile and say 'hello'.

I've never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her name was Dorothy.

**********

2 - Second Important Lesson - " Pickup in the Rain"

One night, at 11:30 PM, an older African American woman was standing on the side of an Alabama highway trying to endure a lashing rainstorm.

Her car had broken down and she desperately needed a ride. Soaking wet, she decided to flag down the next car. A young white man stopped to help her, generally unheard of in those conflict-filled 1960s.

The man took her to safety, helped her get assistance and put her into a taxicab. She seemed to be in a big hurry, but wrote down his address and thanked him. Seven days went by and a knock came on the man's door. To his surprise, a giant console color TV was delivered to his home.

A special note was attached. It read: "Thank you so much for assisting me on the highway the other night. The rain drenched not only my clothes, but also my spirits Then you came along. Because of you, I was able to make it to my dying husband's bedside just before he passed away. God bless you for helping me and unselfishly serving others."

Sincerely,

Mrs. Nat King Cole.

**********

3. - Third Important Lesson - "Always Remember Those Who Serve."

In the days when an ice cream sundae cost much less, a 10 year old boy entered a hotel coffee shop and sat at a table. A waitress put a glass of water in front of him. "How much is an ice cream sundae?" he asked. "Fifty cents," replied the waitress.

The little boy pulled his hand out of his pocket and studied the coins in it. "Well, how much is a plain dish of ice cream?" he inquired. By now more people were waiting for a table and the waitress was growing impatient.

"Thirty-five cents," she brusquely replied."

The little boy again counted his coins. "I'll have the plain ice cream," he said. The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill on the table and walked away. The boy finished the ice cream, paid the cashier and left. When the waitress came back, she began to cry as she wiped down the table. There, placed neatly beside the empty dish, were two nickels and five pennies.

You see, he couldn't have the sundae, because he had to have enough left to leave her a tip.

**********

4 - Fourth Important Lesson - "The Obstacle in Our Path"

In ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a roadway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the king's wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it. Many loudly blamed the king for not keeping the road clear, but none did anything about getting the stone out of the way.

Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded.

After the peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse lying in the road where the boulder had been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note from the king indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the roadway.

The peasant learned what many of us never understand.

Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve our condition.

**********

5 - Fifth Important Lesson - "Giving When it Counts"

Many years ago, when I worked as a volunteer at a hospital, I got to know a little girl named Liz who was suffering from a rare and serious disease. Her only chance of recovery appeared to be a blood transfusion from her 5-year old brother, who had miraculously survived the same disease and had developed the antibodies needed to combat the illness.

The doctor explained the situation to her little brother, and asked the little boy if he would be willing to give his blood to his sister. I saw him hesitate for only a moment before taking a deep breath and saying," Yes, I'll do it if it will save her."

As the transfusion progressed, he lay in bed next to his sister and smiled, as we all did, seeing the color returning to her cheek. Then his face grew pale and his smile faded. He looked up at the doctor and asked with a trembling voice, "Will I start to die right away?"

Being young, the little boy had misunderstood the doctor; he thought he was going to have to give his sister all of his blood in order to save her.

You see, after all, understanding and attitude, are everything.

**********

Don't Drink &

Brain imaging studies show that human feelings originate inside the brain.

The human brain structure is almost fully developed by age 11, though some higher self-management brain functions continue to develop into the mid 20’s.

The diameter of an individual brain neuron is 4 microns, meaning 30,000 could fit on the head of a pin.

The human brain has 10 billion neurons, making it the most powerful learning tool in the world.

Each single brain neuron has from 1,000 to 10,000 connections with other neurons, making up to 10 trillion neuron connections possible.

Alcohol interferes with brain processes by weakening connections between neurons.
The same part of the brain interprets both your physical and emotional pain.

Stress over long periods can weaken the brain’s ability to learn and remember.

A dog’s brain is 19 times smaller than a human adult brain; an elephant’s brain 4 to 5 times bigger than ours.

An adult bottle-nosed dolphin’s brain is about the size of a human adult’s brain.
The average adult’s brain weighs 3 to 4 lbs. but consumes 20% of the body’s supply of oxygen.

Loss of oxygen for even 5 to 10 minutes can cause serious brain damage.

Our brain requires 20% of the entire body’s blood flow.

The human brain contains 400 miles of blood vessels.

Brain imaging functional MRI equipment measures blood flow and provides a picture of brain activity during actual emotional experiences.

There is no sense of pain within the brain itself. This allows neurosurgeons to probe areas of the brain while the patient is awake.

A living brain is so soft you could cut it with a butter knife.

Brain messages travel between neurons in just one thousandth of a second.

Each time you have a new thought or memory, a new brain connection is made between two or more brain cells.

Your brain generates up to 25 watts of power while you're awake---enough to illuminate a light bulb.

Money

WITH MONEY YOU CAN BUY A HOUSE BUT NOT A HOME
WITH MONEY YOU CAN BUY A CLOCK BUT NOT TIME
WITH MONEY YOU CAN BUY A BED BUT NOT SLEEP
WITH MONEY YOU CAN BUY A BOOK, BUT NOT KNOWLEDGE
WITH MONEY YOU CAN SEE A DOCTOR, BUT NOT GOOD HEALTH
WITH MONEY YOU CAN BUY A POSITION BUT NOT RESPECT
WITH MONEY YOU CAN BUY BLOOD BUT NOT LIFE
WITH MONEY YOU CAN BUY SEX BUT NOT LOVE

Programmer's Quote

Any fool can write code that a computer can understand. In detail, the best relaxation is accomplished by utilising personal and mental methods together.

These three helpful personal relaxation methods can help you decrease muscle stress and organise the consequences of the fight-or-flight response on your body.

Deep Breathing

Deep respiring is a easy, but very productive, procedure of relaxation. It is a centre constituent of everything from the "take 10 deep breaths" approach to calming somebody down, right through to yoga relaxation and Zen meditation. It works well in conjunction with other relaxation methods for example Progressive Muscular Relaxation, relaxation imagery and meditation to decrease stress.
To use the method, take several deep puffs of air and rest your body farther with each breath. That's all there is to it!

Progressive Muscular Relaxation

Progressive Muscular Relaxation is helpful for resting your body when your muscles are tense.
The concept behind PMR is that you tense up a assembly of muscles in order that they are as firmly bound as possible. Hold them in a state of farthest stress for a couple of seconds. Then, rest the sinews normally. Then, attentively rest the sinews even farther in order that you are as calm as possible.
By tensing your muscles first, you will find that you are adept to rest your muscles more than would be the case if you endeavoured to rest your sinews directly.

The Relaxation Response

‘The Relaxation Response’ is the title of a publication released by Dr Herbert Benson of Harvard University in 1968. In a sequence of trials into diverse well liked meditation methods, Dr Benson established that these methods had a very genuine effect on decreasing tension and commanding the fight-or-flight response. Direct consequences encompassed deep relaxation, slowed down heartbeat and respiring, decreased oxygen utilisation and expanded skin resistance.
This is certain thing that you can do for yourself by following these steps:
Sit calmly and comfortably.
Close your eyes.
Start by resting the sinews of your feet and work up your body resting muscles.
Focus your vigilance on your breathing.
Breathe in profoundly and then let your wind out. Count your puffs of air, and state the number of the wind as you let it out (this presents you certain thing to do with your brain, assisting you to bypass distraction).
Do this for 10 or 20 minutes.
An even more powerful alternate approach is to pursue these steps, but to use relaxation imagery rather than of counting puffs of air in step 5. Again, you can verify to yourself that this works utilising the biofeedback equipment.
Experiment with PMR by forming a fist, and clenching your hand as taut as you can for a couple of seconds. Relax your hand to its preceding stress, and then attentively rest it afresh in order that it is as loose as possible. You should seem deep relaxation in your hand muscles.

7 Habits of Highly Effective People

1. In a very short time, Li-Li found that she couldn't get along with mother-in-law at all. Their personalities were very different, and Li-Li was angered by many of her mother-in-law' s habits.

Days passed, and weeks passed. Li-Li and her mother-in-law never stopped arguing and fighting. All the anger and unhappiness in the house was causing Li-Li's poor husband great distress.

Finally, Li-Li could not stand her mother-in-law' s any longer, and she decided to do something about it! Li-Li went to see her father's good friend, Mr. Huang, who sold herbs. She told him the situation and asked if he would give her some poison so that she could solve the problem once and for all.

Mr. Huang thought for a while, and finally said, 'Li-Li, I will help you solve your problem, but you must listen to me and obey what I tell you.' Li-Li said, 'Yes, Mr. Huang, I will do whatever you tell me to do. 'Mr. Huang went into the back room, and returned in a few minutes with a package of herbs. He told Li-Li, 'You can't use a quick-acting poison to get rid of your mother-in-law, because that would cause people to become suspicious.
Therefore, I have given you a number of herbs that will slowly build up poison in her body. Every other day prepare some delicious meal and put a little of these herbs in her serving. Now, in order to make sure that nobody suspect you, when she dies, you must be very careful to be actively friendly towards her. 'Don't argue with her, obey her every wish, and treat her like a queen.' Li-Li was so happy. She thanked Mr. Huang and hurried home to start her plot of murdering her mother-i! n-law.

Weeks went by, and months went by, and every other day, Li-Li served the specially treated food to her mother-in-law. She remembered what Mr. Huang had said about avoiding suspicion, so she controlled her temper, and treated her like her own mother..

After six months had passed, the whole household had changed. Li-Li had practiced controlling her temper so much that she found that she almost never got mad or upset. She hadn't had an argument with her mother-in-law in six months because she now seemed much kinder and easier to get along with.

The mother-in-law' s attitude toward Li-Li changed, and she began to love Li-Li like her own daughter. She kept telling friends and relatives thatLi-Li was the best daughter-in- law one could ever find. Li-Li and her mother-in-law were now treating each other like a real mother and daughter.

One day, Li-Li came to see Mr. Huang and asked for his help again She said, 'Dear Mr. Huang, please help me to keep the poison from killing my mother-in-law. She's changed into such a nice woman, and I love her like my own mother. I do not want her to die because of the poison I gave her.'

Mr. Huang smiled and nodded his head. 'Li-Li, there's nothing to worry about. I never gave you any poison. The herbs I gave you were vitamins to improve her health. The only poison was in your mind and your attitude toward her, but that has been all washed away by the love which you gave to her.'

There is a wise Chinese saying: 'The person who loves others will also be loved in return..' God might be trying to work in another person's life through you.

After all you have got nothing to lose but a lot to gain. 'A candle loses nothing if it is used to light another one.
